I am not a proper gamer or anything like that, although I really enjoy reading game reviews and browsing game art pieces. I get frustrated quickly if I die over and over and over again, and that is what usually happens to me in any game. So I just don’t do gaming.
But everyone has friends, who just make you play stuff, persuading ‘just try at least once’ or ‘we need a teammate for just this time’. And then you get hooked. And there is not way out.
So that happened with ‘Don’t Starve Together’ by KLEI on steam. MPD would not shut up about it and he talked our friends into buying it for all the gang, you know, for double dates and that sort of cute couples’ LAN parties. So we started and at first, as always, it was just annoying, as I died because of every reason there is. Starvation, darkness, madness, weird tree monster, spiders, green spiders, super huge fly, angry beefalo, killer bees and all the other creeps.

The super fly chasing me
But it is Don’t Starve TOGETHER, so you have to actually work together, give each other tasks, gather stuff not only for yourselves, share things and you might even make it through the day.
It is actually a very funny game with lovely adorable art (those beefalos and chesters, and deerclops!), interesting characters and their quirks. It is frustrating until you learn how to survive longer than two days and start a proper base, but wandering and exploring is so much fun. Until night comes and you remember you have no torch.

That is some biiig trash panda. Every season has its own weird and scary monster to annoy you
My favorite character so far is Wickerbottom. Starting both multiplayer and singleplayer (offline), you can choose a character. Everyone has their own advantages, like turning into werebeaver to cut all the trees in the hood or owning super strength. My Wickerbottom likes books (surprise surprise) and can summon deadly tentacles to battle other monsters, she can make farms grow and bring harvest and she does not sleep, which is perfect for exploring. For Wickerbottom to bring the harvest, well, first you need to have crops and berrybushes, so you will need loads of shit (look for beefalos as shit providers). And desperate need for shit piles will make a phrase ‘Guys, please, I really need shit, could you bring me 80 shit piles?’ legit.

Digging up graves is not supposed to be good, but oh all the treasures you can find there!

Found this sort of abandoned base camp on some Chinese server. I want those scale chests
While Don’t Starve Together is a team game, original Don’t Starve has a single player version Don’t Starve Shipwrecked where, besides all other struggles, you can navigate the ocean and be electrocuted by cute pink jellyfish.
